The full transformation of a residential bathroom at 17 Noble Hill Drive, Poughquag, NY, completely rebuilt by Reale Construction Rx. The original space suffered from water damage around the window, failing grout, and poor ventilation. We began by performing a complete demolition, removing the old tile, drywall, and subfloor to expose the framework beneath.
Once open, our team replaced sections of compromised wood and reframed the shower wall for proper load support. We installed cement backer board and a liquid waterproofing membrane on all wet areas — including the shower surround, window wall, and floor — creating a continuous watertight barrier. This ensures that any future moisture remains on the surface where it can be easily managed, rather than seeping into the structure.
The new shower was finished with ceramic wall tile set in a clean, staggered pattern, featuring a built-in 16x24 recessed niche for convenience and storage. The area around the window was fully wrapped and tiled, eliminating the peeling paint and soft drywall that had previously allowed water to intrude. The floor received matching tile for a cohesive aesthetic and slip-resistant texture.
Next, we replaced all fixtures with modern, water-efficient models: a low-flow toilet, a new undermount sink with updated faucet, and a modern vanity light that brightens the room evenly without glare. The original vanity cabinet, which was structurally sound, was refinished in a durable paint and fitted with new hardware — maintaining the character of the home while giving it a fresh look.
A new high-capacity exhaust fan now provides proper airflow, preventing future humidity buildup and mold risk. To finish, we painted the walls and ceiling in premium moisture-resistant paint, installed a stainless grab bar in the shower for safety, and sealed every grout and caulk line with professional-grade protection.
💡 Performance & Longevity:
This remodel was engineered for resilience. From waterproof backer boards to properly flashed window trim and sealed grout joints, every layer was designed to perform as a unified system. The result is a bathroom that’s cleaner, brighter, and built to stand up to daily use without hidden failures.
✅ Maintenance Tips:
Run the exhaust fan during and after showers to prevent humidity buildup.
Check caulk and grout lines once a year; reseal as needed to maintain waterproofing.
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners on tile and fixtures to protect the sealer.
Address small leaks or drips immediately — preventative care saves walls, floors, and money.
Result:
A complete bathroom transformation that blends structural integrity with visual calm. The space now feels open, balanced, and breathable — proof that the best remodels don’t just change appearances; they restore the foundation beneath them.
