Preventative Care (Do’s & Don’ts)
✅ DO:
- Apply a fresh sealant or stain to cedar siding and trim every 2–3 years to maintain color and water resistance.
- Keep gutters and downspouts clean to prevent water damage behind siding.
- Clear leaves and debris from deck edges and propane surround to prevent moisture buildup.
- Inspect trim joints and caulking annually, especially around windows and doors.
🚫 DON’T:
- Use high-pressure washing on cedar siding — it can cause fiber damage.
- Paint over raw cedar without a proper primer — it compromises breathability.
- Stack firewood or materials against the siding — it invites insects and moisture problems.
- Let snow accumulate at the base of the propane surround or deck edge — ensure runoff channels stay clear.

Overview
Oct 20, 2017
Dec 4, 2017
GC: Construction Pros
Location: Todd Hill Rd, Lagrangeville, NY
🩺 Symptoms:
This home’s exterior had seen better days. Aging siding, signs of water intrusion, outdated trim details, and a deck that had outlived its charm — all were compromising both aesthetics and structural integrity. The propane tank, meanwhile, stuck out like a sore thumb, disrupting the overall harmony of the architecture.
🔍 Diagnosis & Evaluation:
While the structure itself was sound, years of weather exposure had left their mark. The siding was tired, trim misaligned, and water-damaged zones needed immediate attention. The homeowner wanted to restore dignity to the exterior with a long-term, natural solution that reflected care, quality, and timeless design.
🛠️ Treatment Plan (What We Performed):
-Fully stripped the old siding and repaired all sheathing and water-damaged areas.
-Installed real cedar siding, board by board, for enhanced durability and a clean, organic aesthetic.
-Applied custom-milled cedar trim around doors and windows to elevate architectural detail.
-Fabricated a custom propane tank surround that blends seamlessly with the new siding, offering both function and visual continuity.
-Updated the decking with fresh cedar boards and railing to complete the transformation.
-Final walkthrough ensured all seams, fasteners, and finishes were weather-tight and visually balanced.
💡 Result:
What once looked weathered and overlooked now feels warm, intentional, and built to last. This home gained not just curb appeal — it reclaimed presence. The cedar siding and trim radiate craftsmanship, while every detail, from propane surround to deck rail, reinforces a polished and enduring exterior.
