Project Overview

Oct 20, 2017

GC: Construction Pros Location: Todd Hill Rd, Lagrangeville, NY 🩺 Symptoms: This home’s exterior had seen better days. Aging siding, signs of water intrusion, outdated trim details, and a deck that had outlived its charm — all were compromising both aesthetics and structural integrity. The propane tank, meanwhile, stuck out like a sore thumb, disrupting the overall harmony of the architecture. 🔍 Diagnosis & Evaluation: While the structure itself was sound, years of weather exposure had left their mark. The siding was tired, trim misaligned, and water-damaged zones needed immediate attention. The homeowner wanted to restore dignity to the exterior with a long-term, natural solution that reflected care, quality, and timeless design. 🛠️ Treatment Plan (What We Performed): -Fully stripped the old siding and repaired all sheathing and water-damaged areas. -Installed real cedar siding, board by board, for enhanced durability and a clean, organic aesthetic. -Applied custom-milled cedar trim around doors and windows to elevate architectural detail. -Fabricated a custom propane tank surround that blends seamlessly with the new siding, offering both function and visual continuity. -Updated the decking with fresh cedar boards and railing to complete the transformation. -Final walkthrough ensured all seams, fasteners, and finishes were weather-tight and visually balanced. 💡 Result: What once looked weathered and overlooked now feels warm, intentional, and built to last. This home gained not just curb appeal — it reclaimed presence. The cedar siding and trim radiate craftsmanship, while every detail, from propane surround to deck rail, reinforces a polished and enduring exterior.

Project Notes

📸 These photos show:

  • Full exterior siding demo and water damage repair

  • Real cedar siding installed piece-by-piece

  • Detailed trim work around all doors and windows

  • Custom-built cedar surround for the propane tank

  • New cedar decking and updated railing for the back patio

This job was a full-scope exterior overhaul — the kind of project where every step builds on precision. Removing the old siding exposed several small moisture pockets that, if ignored, would have led to structural decay. Each affected section of sheathing was replaced before any new cedar was installed. The natural cedar siding wasn’t pre-fabricated panels — every board was hand-set and fastened to align perfectly along the home’s frame, ensuring both straight lines and natural grain flow.

Trim was fabricated to match the home’s existing architectural proportions, giving every window and door the sharp, dimensional definition that factory-grade materials can’t replicate. The propane tank surround, built from the same cedar stock, turned what was once a distraction into a seamless part of the overall design.

The new deck boards and railing tied everything together, blending perfectly with the fresh siding tone. Every element was sealed, stained, and prepped for the Northeast climate — designed not just to look good now, but to weather gracefully over the years.

Maintenance Notes:

  • Reapply cedar sealant or stain every 2–3 years

  • Keep gutters and downspouts clear to prevent backflow water damage

  • Avoid high-pressure washing; use gentle cleaning methods

  • Maintain airflow around siding and propane surround to prevent trapped moisture
