Project Notes
📸 These photos show:
A custom-built shed designed and constructed in Pleasant Valley, NY, featuring precision framing, full weatherproofing, and field-engineered design evolution.
We began by grading and preparing the site, ensuring proper drainage and ground compaction before setting the foundation. A pressure-treated #2 pine base frame was assembled to resist rot and ground moisture, providing the anchor point for the structure above. The walls were framed using Douglas fir studs for their strength and dimensional stability, giving the building a clean, rigid frame capable of bearing weight evenly.
For the exterior, we installed T1-11 siding, selected for its durability and clean vertical aesthetic. Each panel was primed, painted, and weather-sealed on all sides before installation — a step often skipped in shed construction but critical for longevity in New York’s climate. The roof was built with a full decked substrate and topped with Owens Corning Duration shingles, providing residential-grade wind resistance and a cohesive, finished look.
During construction, the client’s needs evolved, leading to an on-site redesign of the layout to improve interior flow and maximize usable square footage. The final footprint balances proportion with function — offering space for tools, equipment, and seasonal items without feeling bulky in the yard.
✅ Maintenance Tips:
Wash siding with gentle detergent once or twice per year to preserve paint and seal integrity.
After major storms, visually inspect the roofline for shingle movement or debris buildup.
Keep soil, mulch, or heavy materials away from siding edges to prevent trapped moisture.
Ensure airflow around the shed base — visibility along the foundation perimeter prevents hidden damage.
Result:
A shed built without shortcuts, designed by instinct and refined by craftsmanship. The structure is tight, balanced, and enduring — proof that even simple projects can showcase professional standards when built with precision and respect for the craft.
