Project Notes
📸 These photos show:
The removal of the entire original roofing system, layer by layer — starting with the top shingle field, down to nails and deteriorated underlayment. The crew worked methodically to expose the deck, using magnetic sweepers to keep the jobsite clean and safe from stray fasteners.
Exposed roof decking was carefully inspected for hidden moisture intrusion, soft spots, or rot. Each suspect area was probed, mapped, and fully cut out — sometimes down to the rafters. We used new CDX plywood, properly staggered and fastened, to restore complete integrity. All cuts were flashed and taped to tie the new sheathing into the old, avoiding future “cold joints” or weak spots.
All vent boots, existing flashing, and valley metal were removed and replaced with new materials. Chimney flashing and step flashings at roof-to-wall transitions were custom-bent on site for a watertight fit.
Owens Corning synthetic underlayment was rolled out over the deck with high-tack fasteners, ensuring wrinkle-free, continuous coverage. This included critical double-coverage at all eaves and valleys for ice dam defense, plus full laps at penetrations.
Duration architectural shingles were installed with strict adherence to manufacturer spec: six-nail pattern per shingle, chalked starter rows, and proper shingle alignment for wind resistance and warranty. Valleys received woven shingle protection for additional leak resistance.
Ridge vent was installed at the peak, cut precisely to vent only the attic without sacrificing structure. Baffles and screens prevent debris entry, and the vent system is capped with shingle-over cover for a seamless look.
The crew took time to check every detail: starter strips sealed with adhesive, flashing caulked at all intersections, and all waste and debris were hauled off site. Final walkthroughs were done to check for high nails, debris, and loose edges, guaranteeing a 100% clean result.
The finished product is a roof that not only looks tight and uniform but is built to shed water, breathe, and defend against wind, snow, and sun for decades. There are no soft spots, no visible seams, and no hidden weaknesses — just a job done right, start to finish, without a single corner cut.
