📍 What You’re Looking At:
These photos show the full transformation of both the front and rear decks at Ken & Stephanie's home. You’ll see before-and-after views of:

-Pressure washing and sanding of the deck surfaces
-The rocking chairs prepped, stripped, and refinished to match their respective zones
-Solid gray porch paint applied to unify the front entry
-Transparent wood stain used in the back to enhance the grain and preserve warmth
-Renewed curb appeal and upgraded outdoor usability

✅ Do:

✔️ Rinse both decks with water occasionally to keep dust and pollen from settling
✔️ Reapply stain or paint every 2–3 years depending on weather exposure
✔️ Use furniture pads to prevent scratching on painted or stained surfaces

❌ Don’t:

❌ Don’t use harsh cleaners or pressure washers too frequently — they strip the finish
❌ Don’t place wet planters or rugs directly on wood for long periods — they can trap moisture
❌ Don’t ignore chipped areas — spot seal early to prevent peeling or water intrusion

Overview

🤕 Symptoms: -Years of weathering had dulled the front and rear deck surfaces -Algae, dirt, and sun-fade on both decks and the concrete walkway -Porch chairs showed signs of chipping paint and water exposure -Rear deck’s awning was fixed in place, requiring creative workarounds -Homeowners wanted a clean refresh that respected the original look 🩺 Diagnosis & Evaluation: This wasn’t just a cosmetic job — it was a preservation project. The wood still had life in it, but it needed deep cleaning, care, and the right finish to bounce back. While the awning posed a slight logistical challenge, the priority was maintaining the natural beauty in back and bringing clean contrast to the front. 🛠️ Treatment Plan: -Pressure washed the front and rear decks as well as the concrete walkway -Allowed full drying time before continuing work to avoid moisture lock-in -Fully sanded both decks and both outdoor wooden chairs -Applied solid exterior paint to the front porch deck and chair for a classic clean finish -Used transparent stain on the rear deck and chair to showcase the wood grain -Protected and worked around the fixed gazebo/awning structure without removal -removing lattice work and decorative items and reinstalled after completion is a small extra that leaves an everlasting touch. -Ensured all surfaces were properly sealed and finished for extended weather resistance 💡 Prognosis: This home’s outdoor experience is renewed and ready for seasons ahead. The front porch is crisp and inviting, while the back deck glows with natural texture. Small touches like the refinished rocking chair elevate the whole mood. Most importantly, the surfaces are now protected — not just pretty.
