Notes

📍 What You’re Looking At:
This photo shows the rebuilt gazebo with two custom rear extensions. All visible framing, roofing, siding, soffits, fascia, cedar wall cladding, and the exterior storage room door were carefully assembled on site.

The structure was brought back to life from a disassembled kit — no instructions, just loose parts and intuition. The first addition extends the usable space for cooking equipment and flow, while the second runs the full length of the gazebo, framed 8 feet deep for storage.

The block wall, slab foundation, and final paint/stain were completed by other contractors and are not part of my scope on this project.

✅ Do:

✔️ Keep up with seasonal sealing — it’ll stretch the life of the siding and trim
✔️ Give the cedar a wipe-down now and then — it likes to be touched, not just looked at

❌ Don’t:

❌ Let debris gather along the fascia edges — it builds moisture where you don’t want it
❌ Assume fresh paint means full protection — always check how the material’s actually aging

🤕 Symptoms: A disassembled gazebo arrived on site — parts loosely labeled, fasteners bagged, and no instructions in sight. Structurally uncertain and incomplete, the footprint lacked the functional space needed for storage or seasonal use. What could’ve been a quick build became a deeper reconstruction effort calling for both memory and intuition. The client also needed additional coverage behind the main unit for equipment and utility integration. 🩺 Diagnosis: This wasn’t just a rebuild — it was a reclamation. The original frame had potential, but needed a bigger vision to meet modern utility. Storage, cooking capability, and seasonal readiness were all missing from the original design. By blending adaptive framing with a grounded layout, the structure could evolve into something that truly supported both function and comfort. 🛠️ Treatment Plan: -Reconstructed the original gazebo frame using labeled parts and intuitive alignment -Installed footings and leveled the frame for long-term structural integrity -Framed two full-length rear extensions: -One at 4 feet deep for stove/refrigerator use -One at 8 feet deep for secure equipment storage -Installed T1-11 panel siding across the structure for a unified and durable surface -Added soffits and fascia to integrate ventilation and finish work -Installed matching roof sheathing and shingles for seamless protection- -Trimmed out the interior-facing wall with cedar to soften and elevate the space’s feel 💡 Prognosis: This once-forgotten kit is now a purpose-built outbuilding — ready for storage, hosting, and seasonal living. It has structure, symmetry, and soul. With strong siding, weather-tight roofing, and thoughtful finishing, the space now stands not just rebuilt, but reimagined — a grounded addition to the property that serves well beyond its original intent. 🔍 The slab and block wall seen beneath the structures, along with the exterior painting, electrical and plumbing, were completed by other trades brought in to finish those stages.
