📍 What You’re Looking At:
This was a garage and basement upgrade focused on maximizing storage, cleanliness, and long-term durability. What began as aged utility shelving and gritty walls got reimagined into fresh, functional zones for daily use and long-term resilience.
Visible in the photos:
- Two built-in shelving areas inside the garage were fully gutted and rebuilt from the studs out.
- We cut and installed 3/8" sanded plywood panels for the backs, sides, and tops, then sealed the edges with custom pine trim for a polished finish.
- Corners were caulked and all surfaces were painted with the client’s chosen white, brightening up the whole garage entry zone.
- The basement workbench was resurfaced with ½” vinyl composite sheeting, making it cleaner and more wipeable for tools and craft supplies. Optional ¾” shelving was added underneath for more modular storage.
- A wall-mounted pegboard system was removed, revealing wood plank walls beneath. We coated that surface with two coats of semi-gloss white, making it both washable and sharp-looking.
- Basement concrete walls (715 sq ft) were scrubbed, prepped, and parged to smooth the surface and eliminate crumbling.
- We then installed FRP panels — moisture-resistant, cleanable, and built to last. This finish is perfect for laundry areas, workspaces, or anywhere water and dirt are regular guests.
✅ Do:✔️ Use the new shelves for lightweight garden, auto, and cleaning storage — the framing and caulking will hold up well
✔️ Take advantage of the smooth FRP finish for easy wipe-downs in the basement
✔️ Keep white-painted areas dusted or lightly cleaned with water-based cleansers to preserve the bright finish
❌ Don’t:
❌ Don’t overload the vinyl work surface — it’s durable, but heavy tools should be stored lower
❌ Don’t skip ventilation — especially if storing paint or chemicals in shelving bays
